"Great book. I followed the recipe exactly and the Thanksgiving turkey was great. Not dry, flavorful, crispy skin. I did the dry brine, ice the breasts, u-shaped charcoal placement, truss the turkey, rest responsibly. Grill was Weber 26.75 kettle with a Cajun Bandit rotisserie which I also highly recommend. I used good old blue Kingsford charcoal (stock up at the Labor Day sales)."

  • Great book. • Mike Vrobel is the king of rotisserie grilling and his latest book is a slam dunk! I have always considered cooking a turkey on my grill's rotisserie attachment but was afraid to try it until I read this book. It offers step-by-step instructions for several rotisserie turkey recipes as well as an informative discussion on brining, tressing the bird (ie tying it up), charcoal setups for rotisserie cooking, etc.

The book also offers some great recipes for turkey breasts which are sure to get me cooking turkey more often during the year versus reserving this flavorful poultry for the holidays. In addition, there are several side dishes and some interesting takes on turkey soup which are perfect for leftovers!

Definitely pick up a copy and your Thanksgiving guests can thank me later!
  • Good tone of voice and humor for any level of cook to be encouraged to try rotisserie turkey in many different flavors. I have other books by Mike and know the recipes will be solid with no surprises or typos. Bacon turkey will be my first event. Lemon and rosemary will be next. Looking forward to trying Austin TX, Italian, and Spanish style seasonings too.
  • Perfect for the beginner rotisserie person. If always need rotisserie reminders and this the guide.
  • This is a great book if you like to use the rotisserie - great recipes - he also has a website that is very informative
  • This author's idea of rotisserie cooking a turkey, on a Weber grill, with the coals being placed in a half circle at the turkey's feet instead of half and half on both sides of the turkey is way off base. Against my better judgement, I tried his rotisserie method. After over 3 hours, the foot end of the turkey was 175°, and the breast area was 135°. I turned the rotisserie 90° to move the breast area over the coals but then the skin began to turn almost black. So, I had to wrap the turkey in foil and move it to the oven in my kitchen. I am still waiting to see what it's going to taste like. Fortunately, this was a trial run, prior to my Thanksgiving turkey. Next week I will do my traditional turkey on the rotisserie with the coals on each side of the turkey. If you do not want to ruin your Thanksgiving day turkey, do not adhere to these cooking instructions as listed in this book. To give the author some credit, I have tried some of his other rotisserie recipes with much success.
  • As with is book on Rotisserie Grilling, Mike delivers all the details you need to be successful, even on your first try.
